Have any of you read the book or seen the movie The Secret? If you haven’t, please put that on your bucket list of things to do.
I have read the book and watched the movie numerous times. For whatever reason, I tend to forget the simple principals that are stated in them. So, I’ve been trying something different.
For over the past two years I will wake up consistently after about three to four hours of sleep. Most of the time the hamster in my brain is running on his hamster wheel and he’s just gotten started. I can’t shut the brain off and next thing I know, three hours have passed and it’s time to get up and go through my day. I’m fighting that fucking tiger and he’s already kicked my ass with a full day ahead of me.
For the last two months, when I wake up in the middle of the night I find my iPad, push play on The Secret (and other inspirational podcasts, books on tape, etc.). Like a guided mediation, it helps me fall back asleep.
I also have the intention that if I can’t get this while I’m awake, I’ll get this while I’m sleeping.
My intent is to learn this stuff through osmosis!
Maybe it will seep into my unconscious, plant a seed that will germinate and grow, and eventually The Secret’s principles will become second nature. It will allow me to dance with my tiger instead of fighting it daily.
Sometimes, when I am in a state of half consciousness, I will hear something that resonates deeply with me. Most of the time I think, “That’s what I needed to hear today,” and fall back asleep. Other times I’ll peek at the time line of what’s playing and jot it down to remember to listen to it later, then fall back asleep not remembering that I even did that.
When I woke up this morning (the movie was just about to finish – I had slept through almost an hour and a half of everything else) I heard these last few passages of the secret.
Find Purpose in your Life

Give Meaning to Others

In one of Andy Stanley’s sermons he explained why we go through pain. I’m paraphrasing here. We go through pain so that we can genuinely help others who are going through something we have already experienced.
We experience pain so that we can help others who are also struggling. Click To Tweet
To say, “I’m sorry about your pain,” doesn’t mean anything unless you have truly been where they are.

It’s why the various twelve step groups are so successful. We give courage, strength, and hope to the new comers.
The universe reached out this morning guiding and confirming that I’m doing the right thing by starting this blog. I want those of us who have struggled and who have survived to give strength to those that come on here looking for that sliver of hope that life can get better. My purpose is to create a community of loving people who support one another on their journey towards a happy life.
God bless every one of you!
I know, I know, I just opened a can of words using the “God” word. How about calling it The Universe. Or Higher Power. I like what Pam Grout calls it: The Field of Infinite Potentiality (FP).
Although saying “Field of Infinite Potentiality every one of you” doesn’t sound quite right.
All I know, is that I personally have needed to believe in something, some power greater than myself (it was originally an eagle), to forgive the things I have done in my past and to let go of the toxic shame and guilt that keeps me from loving myself. I am sure that will be a post for another day…
So instead, thank you for visiting my site.
Have a glorious day!
(He didn’t just open another can of worms, did he? Yep, he went there.)
