Good morning my Fledglings.

I’m happy to introduce my very first Text With Rafiki post today. I was going to wait until the middle of the week and yes, I know, I still need to write and post my Grateful Sunday for today, but I figure I’ll get to that in a bit. I’ve been wanting to do this for quite some time now and I think today would be as good a day as ever.

You see, in complete Rafiki style he seemed to know what I was up to. I not only was reviewing previous texts searching for something to post all day yesterday, but I had started a new chronological page explaining these posts and a one stop place where my Fledglings can find all our various texts together.

Guess what Rafiki ended up doing?

Rafiki started my day off with a quote before I was able to send him one from my morning meditation. This sent us on a wild journey of discovery and discussion. The very journey I thought might be fun for you.

Welcome to the first of many crazy texts that Rafiki and I have.

“Your assumptions are your windows on the world. Scrub them off every once in a while, or the light won’t come in.”

– Isaac Asimov

Interesting who the quote came from. More of a story teller than philosopher.

He wrote a lot of science books.  The ethics of robots was written by him in that realm.

Scifi was his night job.

“The power of attention…Attention really is your power source. Nothing in your life happens willy nilly. You’re creating your own reality by what you choose to give your attention to and what you give your attention to, what you focus on, expands. How often have you heard others say or you’ve even said to yourself, ‘I’m just trying to make it through this day?’” It’s no surprise that if that is your attitude, the energy that you bring to the day, that’s exactly what happens; you barely just make it through the day. Rather than, fully flourish. What we dwell on and focus on is what we receive. So, if you want more in your life, more connection, more meaning, more fulfillment, you have to learn to shift your attention, your power source to something deeper and truer. And from that pure and sacred place, you can attract more abundance and goodness into your life. It’s bigger than any dream you imagined for yourself.”

~ Oprah (Deepak Energy of Attraction Meditation Course: Day Six, The Power of Attention

“If our desire is like a seed, then attention is the movement of nourishment that supports the growth of the seed into a fully mature plant. Our attention at the quiet levels of the mind provides direction and strength to our hopes and desires, so that they can become real.”

Nice quote on attention.

I’d like to say, Scifi he did in his twilight years.

Yes, this one I must learn to embrace. The process of letting go. How can one truly let go when one’s attention is focused on holding on?

Even to let go implies you are holding on, so the attention is on the holding

She Let Go

~ Rev. Safire Rose

That was powerful.

I like it in written format (although there was a Phoenix in the video 😉)

She Let Go

She let go. Without a thought or a word, she let go.

She let go of the fear. She let go of the judgments. She let go of the confluence of opinions swarming around her head. She let go of the committee of indecision within her. She let go of all the ‘right’ reasons. Wholly and completely, without hesitation or worry, she just let go.

She didn’t ask anyone for advice. She didn’t read a book on how to let go. She didn’t search the scriptures. She just let go.

She let go of all of the memories that held her back. She let go of all of the anxiety that kept her from moving forward. She let go of the planning and all of the calculations about how to do it just right.

She didn’t promise to let go. She didn’t journal about it. She didn’t write the projected date in her Day-Timer. She made no public announcement and put no ad in the paper. She didn’t check the weather report or read her daily horoscope. She just let go.

She didn’t analyze whether she should let go. She didn’t call her friends to discuss the matter. She didn’t do a five-step Spiritual Mind Treatment. She didn’t call the prayer line. She didn’t utter one word. She just let go.

No one was around when it happened. There was no applause or congratulations. No one thanked her or praised her. No one noticed a thing. Like a leaf falling from a tree, she just let go.

There was no effort. There was no struggle. It wasn’t good and it wasn’t bad. It was what it was, and it is just that.

In the space of letting go, she let it all be. A small smile came over her face. A light breeze blew through her. And the sun and the moon shone forevermore.

~ Rev Safire Rose

First i heard it was at a Rumi reading.

I was just quoting the video. Here’s the link to Safire Rose’s website. (link no longer working)

I listened to a WTF [podcast] yesterday.  Bass player singer songwriter….listen to the words.

“Killing Me”

~ Tal Wilkenfeld

“Does it matter what I say

Or think or do?

You see what you see

With the lens you’re looking through”

“This fight keeps me tied

To the worst in me

And it’s killing me

Killing me

Killing me”

One of the many great lines in that song. Had never heard her before.

And there you have it. The first of our rambles, which for some, may seem like rambling, and for others, there may be something that resonates with you.

Never stop growing and changing. Never stop learning new ways to see the world around you. And always have close friends you can share some of the most obscure things with. Makes life that much more beautiful.

Together We Can Heal.
